Making Background Rain Sound for the Film:
In today's blog we will be learning how to make rain background sound for the swede film. Why is this nessary? For context, in the background of the scene, there is a storm happening. There is a constant rain that crashes down with the occasional thunder. The other sound director has the thunder, so I got rain. This is needed for the background of the scene, so let's go.
The ways to make rain sound:
While researching there are plenty of ways to make and get rain sound. Some ways include just recording rain outside and using A.I. One of these ways needs to burn, which is A.I. So, what about recording rain outside? This is right now impossible: where I live is in the dry season of late fall. This time as you see has low to no rain. So, I had to think more practically. In school, I remember reading an article about a South America people who used a hollow stick to make rain sounds. Doing further research let me to ways to make rain noise. To make rain there are 3 main ways that I want to mention: A rain stick, tapping a metal pan and hot oil mixed with water.
Rain Stick:
A tube with tooth picks the intercept falling bean shaped objects with paper esc ends to create a rain sound. These can easily be made but I currently do not have a tube-like object to make it out of.

Tapping a Metal Pan:
Find multiple kitchen pans and tap on them at random moments. I do not like this one for the plentiful reason it lasts as long as my patients does. Which I feel would end to quickly and either sound too loud or quiet.
Hot Oil mixes with Water:
To heat up oil in a frying pan then apply water after the oil is close to boiling. This is what I am picking because it is semi-controllable based on the water amounts, but it will have no human error of predictability. I can also make food right after or during it. Here is video that show the comparisons between the oil sizzling and rain.
