Good Apps to Capture Audio- Research

Capturing of Audio: Which Apps Should be Used?

Today is kind of easy. The main problem while attempting to record the rain is, I do not have a recording audio app on my phone. So, this basic idea is needed so the editor can easily transfer the noise to the editing software. What am I looking for when it comes to an audio app?
  • To have good sending quality
  • Easy to use
  • Good storage usage
  • Free
There are two applications I want to look at because they are free: Easy Voice Recorder and ASR Voice Recorder. With these two I want to look at the Pros and Cons to find what will be the best.

Easy Voice Recorder:

Easy Voice Recorder

Pros:

This is the default system recorder on most devices. It has a simple interface that is very user-friendly. This website has many ways to backups this make it have reliable storage. The audio quality does not deteriorate from the devices recording. The audio is easy to share, supposably. With the ability to send the files and links.

Cons:

This has a history of corrupted and fail audio. But that was when it was first made and has not appeared in a while.

ASR Voice Recorder:

ASR Voice Recorder:

Pros:

This voice recorder is fast-easy and easy to understand. This one uses automatic captions. It also has easy editing software for the editor. This is helpful if there is a typo we can notice it right away to fix it up. This a good positives

Cons:

Poor security: this app has had resent occurrences of lost data and I do not want my work to go into vain. The use of Artificial Intelligence (A.I) is in heavy use. The art industry is littered with A.I and I personally do not what to add to the problem. This will heavy effect the decision.

What I will be Using:

Out of the two there is the easy option of the Easy Voice Recorder. This is because of the others uses heavy emphasis of A.I. So, to record the audio I will use

Diegetic Sound: Rain- Reseasrch

Making Background Rain Sound for the Film:

In today's blog we will be learning how to make rain background sound for the swede film. Why is this nessary? For context, in the background of the scene, there is a storm happening. There is a constant rain that crashes down with the occasional thunder. The other sound director has the thunder, so I got rain. This is needed for the background of the scene, so let's go.

The ways to make rain sound:

While researching there are plenty of ways to make and get rain sound. Some ways include just recording rain outside and using A.I. One of these ways needs to burn, which is A.I. So, what about recording rain outside? This is right now impossible: where I live is in the dry season of late fall. This time as you see has low to no rain. So, I had to think more practically. In school, I remember reading an article about a South America people who used a hollow stick to make rain sounds. Doing further research let me to ways to make rain noise. To make rain there are 3 main ways that I want to mention: A rain stick, tapping a metal pan and hot oil mixed with water.

Rain Stick:

A tube with tooth picks the intercept falling bean shaped objects with paper esc ends to create a rain sound. These can easily be made but I currently do not have a tube-like object to make it out of.

Here is an image for better understanding of what it looks like:

Tapping a Metal Pan:

Find multiple kitchen pans and tap on them at random moments. I do not like this one for the plentiful reason it lasts as long as my patients does. Which I feel would end to quickly and either sound too loud or quiet.

Hot Oil mixes with Water:

To heat up oil in a frying pan then apply water after the oil is close to boiling. This is what I am picking because it is semi-controllable based on the water amounts, but it will have no human error of predictability. I can also make food right after or during it. Here is video that show the comparisons between the oil sizzling and rain.

Mirror Reflections in Filming-Research

Mirror Reflections in My Film

In the swede there is a prevalent emphasis on reflection. Specifically in the glasses of Morphius, with that reflection. The reflection that follow the character, Neo. Why dose he follow him, when he is not meant to the focus yet in the section. Why the reflection? Was it to make Neo always in a scene? We will look at how to use reflections in media to identify how prevent do we need to make the reflection in film. This will be talking about the mise-en-scene today and dose it really matters?

I broke down what was needed to understand the concept of reflection into 5 sections.

Creating Visual Depth

  • To draws one's attention to the relation in the room.

Symbolism

  • To convey deeper meanings and emotions.

Mood

  • To evoke a stronger emotion and tone.

Breaks up still environments

  • To add extra shadows, lighting and multiple ideas.

Foreshadowing

  • To foreshadow future events.

A Good Example of Reflection in Film:

Matrix (1999)
The irony, that one of the best reflections in film belongs in the scene as that follows the one we picked. This shows his reality breaking by breaking up the environment and symbolism.

What appears in the scene:

The reflections of mirrors in the film purpose were to foreshadow, symbolism and creating visual depth. Neo is always in the scene is because the story hinges on him, the chosen one. Morphius know this but Neo does not know this yet. This allows the relation grow more and is not a business meeting or neuatral. It also conveys that need hope that Morphius wants.
Now understanding this my group needs to implement the reflection as best as possible which is the editors' job, so that the end of it.

Practical try of making the film-Planning

 The Practice before the Storm

In today's blog I will start making practical set up using the Legos. This is because, like before, I am not having the best time visualizing the replication of the film. So, I decided to make the screen play in Lego.

What I Shot

1.) This shot has let me see what zoom level my phone needs to be at if I were doing this with real people or close to the real thing. Which the zoom level on the phone was 10x. Which is nice to now than before filming.
2.) This Image was the hardest to replicate on my phone because of the blur. The zoom required for the phone was around 30x which is the Max my phone can zoom. The Background and the Lego figure (Morphius) kept blurring with the background. With the blur happening with that ever the zoom I was the problem was distance from the figure. Which for me I had to go around an extra 5 ft. The Mise en scene was a problem with the high zoom because when you slightly bump into the phone and tripod it would move very drastically.
3.) This was the easiest picture to replicate because the requirement of the nothing. It is a deep focus, wide shot. This just means that I have to get the Mise en scene right, which, now looking at it, is off by a few inches.
4.) This scene was mainly a problem because the was too much lighting. Which some of you may say just turn off/lower the lighting. Which is when I say, my lamp at home that changes light setting had a broken bulb and I would have to wait till next week to get it. But this is an experience to have the proper equipment before filming.
This was the first picture I took because of the this would let me get back into scale. The pill colors might be swapped but, the fall upon the lower horizontal line of mise en scene. The camera would not blur mainly because of the space from the camera to the figure and the allotted room to do this. This however worked out in the end.
This scene was difficult again because of the lighting but the figures are on the hot spots and it all works.

This experience recap

I learned from this to be prepared with lighting and that I was over thinking it.

Shot List - Planning

What is Shot List

A shot list is a list and a mapped-out version of all shots in order in the film that need to be done. It functions like a check list. This allows us as film makers to prepare what shots we to do. Since I have Identified all the shots now it is easier.

The Scene that will we be Replicating Shot List

The Matrix (1999)

This scene is a longer version than what we will be doing but here an example of what a shot list looks like:
